Jasprit Bumrah’s Action is Illegal? Australia Legend Drops Colossal Statement on ‘Chucking’ Claims

Jasprit Bumrah : Former Australia cricketer Greg Chappell has lashed out at the critics who called out Jasprit Bumrah for chucking. Chappell called Bumrah a ‘champion performer’ with the ball and declared his action as clean.

Jasprit Bumrah had an excellent Test match in Perth where he destroyed Australia with some remarkable bowling performance. He picked up 8-72 in the match which also included a five-wicket haul in the first innings.

However, he was called out by some people on social media who shared some pictures and made serious allegations about him for chucking in his bowling action. Despite all of these allegations, Bumrah remained unflustered and produced a stunning bowling performance.

Greg Chappell declares Jasprit Bumrah’s action “unequivocally clean”

While writing for his column in the Sydney Morning Herald, Greg Chappell hailed Jasprit Bumrah for his bowling effort and claimed that Indian bowling looks sharper when he is on song.

“India’s bowlers, spearheaded by the lethal Jasprit Bumrah, looked sharper and more menacing. Australia were bundled out for 104 in 52 overs, with Bumrah proving almost unplayable at times,” Chappell wrote in his column.

Speaking on Jasprit Bumrah’s action, Greg Chappell declared it absolutely clean and called Bumrah a champion performer. He claimed that such allegations can prove to be demeaning for a bowler like Bumrah and called it ‘nonsense’.

“By the way, please stop this nonsense of questioning Bumrah’s action. It is unique, but it is unequivocally clean. It demeans a champion performer and the game to even bring it up,” he noted.

Greg Chappell lauds India’s depth

Further speaking on India’s victory, Greg Chappell added that India won in the Perth Test despite some of their most experienced players not being in the Playing XI. He called this frightening and sent out a warning to the Australian team.

“It is frightening to think that spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, who have more than 850 wickets between them, along with batters Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, will most likely come in to strengthen the Indians for Adelaide,” Chappell further wrote in his column.

Key Players likely to be back for India

Rohit Sharma is likely to be back for the second Test of the series in Adelaide after missing the first Test due to the birth of his second child. He is likely to take up the captaincy from Jasprit Bumrah, who led India in the first Test and produced a Player of the Match-winning performance.

While Rohit is confirmed to return, Shubman Gill is also likely to be back at his usual No. 3 spot. India dropped veteran spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja for the Perth Test and instead played Washington Sundar ahead of them. It remains to be seen what combination they prefer for Adelaide.

India lead the series 1-0 and the second Test will be played in Adelaide from December 6-10. It will be the only day-night fixture of the five-match Test series and will be played with the pink ball. Jasprit Bumrah
