India had given debut to Karn Sharma by keeping both Ashwin and Jadeja out in this match. Australia declared the first innings at a score of 517-7 thanks to centuries from David Warner (145), Michael Clarke (128) and Steve Smith (162*). In the Test played in Perth in December 2018, India did not field any spinner against Australia. Australia scored 326 in the first innings with the help of half-centuries from Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch and Travis Head. In reply, despite knocks from Kohli (123) and Ajinkya Rahane (51), India’s first innings ended at 283. In the second innings, Usman Khawaja (72) took Australia to a score of 243. India gave Washington Sundar a chance to debut in this match. Australia scored 369 runs in the first innings thanks to Marnush Labuschagne (108). In response, India scored 336 runs in the first innings thanks to Sundar (62) and Shardul Thakur (67).
Australia’s second innings ended at a score of 294. Chasing the score, India won the thrilling match by three wickets thanks to brilliant innings from Shubman Gill (91) and Rishabh Pant (89).
